Has the days of the Pharisees returned? The Pharisees were a strict religious group of Jews. They had a great influence on God’s people and had become the authorized religious teachers of Jesus’ days. Jesus said in (Mt 23;2,3), do what the Pharisees say, but do not do as they do, for they say one thing but they do another.
Are we living among religious men who have great influence on God’s people today? Are we living among religious men who are great teachers and preachers of the gospel of Jesus Christ, but they teach one thing and they do another thing? If we answered yes, then we could be living in the times of the modern day Pharisees.
Jesus ministry dealt with many facets of teachings, healings, and miracle workings. In Jesus’ teachings, He often times confronted hypocritical religious leaders. He exposed them for leading God’s people astray for their own wicked motives and greed. (Mt 22:17,18) The Pharisees asked Jesus what did He think, Should they pay taxes to the government or not? Jesus knowing their evil thoughts said “why are you trying to test me? You hypocrites.”
Anyone who does not agree with some of these modern day religious Pharisees faces some of the same attacks that Jesus faced. You may be called Beelzebul (Which Is Another Name For The Devil), which the scribes accused Jesus for casting out demons in this name (Mk 3:22).
Who will confront these modern day Pharisees today?
(Ps 94:16), The Lord said: Who will rise up for Me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for Me against the workers of iniquity?
(Acts 5:33-39) When the Pharisees heard the disciples, they became so angry that they wanted to kill them. But one of the Pharisees named Gamaliel said, be careful what you do to these men. I advise you to stay away from these men. Leave them alone. If what they are doing is something of their own doing, it will fail. But if God is behind it, you cannot stop it, because it is like fighting against God.
The question remains, Who will stand up?
