This is a good study but missing a bit. Tithing is still supposed to be done in the New Testament. The full verse of Matthew 23:23 does not say to dispense with tithing in lieu of Judgment, Mercy, and Faith. Jesus said “these (tithing) ought ye to have done. Romans 7:8 says that here men that die receive tithes but there he (Jesus) receives them. If Paul could not have been referring to the Jews giving tithes under the levitical law because Jesus would not have been receiving them from heaven. It is good to tithe!
I appreciate your answer, but I would like to know WHERE in the NT does the Bible require or command the NT believer to tithe AT ALL? If you use Malachi 3, as support to prove that the church is supposed to tithe, you may want to read chapter 1:1 of that same book to see WHO the author is talking to. Israel IS NOT THE CHURCH AND THE CHURCH HAS NOT REPLACED ISRAEL! Also, Paul tells us in his second letter to the Corinthians that our giving is accepted ACCORDING TO WHAT A PERSON HAS NOT WHAT A PERSON DOESN’T HAVE.
