Topic: The Letter of the Law –vs- The Spirit of the Law

Why should we seek spiritual understanding of God’s wore?

Isaiah said, No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). What does this really means?

What does the Bible really mean when it says, honor your mother and your father and your days shall be long? (Exodus 20:12), Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. (Deuteronomy 5:16), Honor thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Can we really ask anything we desire and expect to receive it from the Lord as Jesus said in (Matthew 7:7-11); 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Some Examples:

Have you ever gotten even with someone at the expense of costing you something?

Have you ever quit a job that you desperately needed because you thought it would hurt the company that you worked for?

Have you ever walked out of a doctor’s or dentist’s office because they were taking too long to see you and you really needed to be checked out?

Have you ever tried passing someone while driving your car and they sped up to prevent you from passing them and you missed your turn or exit simply because you didn’t want to slow down and get behind them? Some people would rather miss their turn or exit than slow down and get behind a person who intentionally won’t let them pass in front of them.

We have all been known to cut off our nose to spite our face at one time or another.

Christians have to be careful of who they allow themselves to be taught by. We have been admonished to know them which labor among us, and are over us in the Lord (1 Thessalonians 5:12). I would also warn the saints of the wolves out there but I still believe in preaching (1 Cor 1:21).

My Apologies

It is with great love and respect that I humble myself before the Lord and follow the Spirit of God. I apologize to anyone who logged into the “Stand Up Ministry’s” chat room on Sunday night via Blog Talk Radio. There was a lot of chaos because I failed to lay down the “house rules”. In the absence of law and order (rules), there awaits confusion. The Apostle Paul tells the church at Corinth that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints (1 Corinthians 14:33).

Although some would propagate that we all would teach one another without being submissive to individuals that God has set in “the body” for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13).

There are two kinds of authorities in the church. One is that which God has instituted and the other is that which man has put in place. The “worldly” authority that man has put in place is one in which the Preacher or Elder “lords over” the people. This authority is despised and rejected of the Lord (1 Peter 5:3).

The authority that God has instituted is that which the Preacher or Elder loves and care for the sheep in which the Lord has committed unto their care for the watching of their souls (Hebrews 13:17). Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and doctrine (1 Timothy 5:17).

Some Christians would dismiss all authority in the church including godly authority because of a few ungodly men who have put themselves in “Moses’ seat” to enlarge their profits. But “believers” are admonished to discern between godly leaders and ungodly leaders. The Bible tells us to know them that labor among us, and are over us in the Lord, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13). Lets not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Things will be different going forward. There is so much more I would say but being lead by the Holy Spirit, I will end by saying this, let us all pray for one another and pray that when we come together as a body that it is for the sole purpose of edifying.

(Romans 14:19), Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

(1 Corinthians 14:26), How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
